Weaning Standard for Mice
The accepted standard for weaning mouse pups is at 21 days of age. If special circumstances require early weaning, this should only be done following consultation with a Laboratory Animal Services veterinarian and ACFC approval. Later weaning, up to 28 days of age, is recommended for some transgenic/knockout strains when pups are small and require a prolonged suckling period.
