Description of Training Program The Animal Care and Facilities Committee has determined that in order to be in compliance with Federal regulations and accreditation requirements, that it is appropriate for a required education program to be implemented. The course (approximately one and a half hours) is based largely on the federal Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare's requirement of having all staff exposed to training of regulatory requirements for animal welfare with occupational and safety considerations. The actual protocol form will be tied into the presentation to provide some good practical information. Faculty, technicians, post docs, students, grad students, and others who are listed as working with animals on the protocols are required to take the course. Undergraduate students who work on special animal projects must also take the course. For your convenience the course will offered by Laboratory Animal Services (LAS) at least twice a month. An approval date will be given once the person takes the one-time only course, and there will be no expiration date given at this time. However, this policy may be modified should requirements change. Please see the Schedule for this mandatory course, and also for voluntary courses offered by LAS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
