Please see Forms and Instructions on the ACFC-PW for downloading and completing the protocol forms.
Make sure that when you submit a protocol that you attach it to the proper protocol number (your existing protocols are listed under “my protocols”). Go to submission options that are located at the bottom of that page. Also make sure that if it is a de novo (rewrite) you do not submit it as a new protocol. If you post incorrectly, it will be confusing to all of us. Please contact us, if you do so.
As you go through the review process, you are asked to not only post the answers to the questions, but also upload a revised version of the protocol. If you do not do both, the system will not work properly, and we will not be notified that you posted new information, which may delay the review process.
At this time we do not have an amendment form posted, and will proceed as we have in the past: write a narrative, clearly indicating the requested change to the protocol. Review the protocol form to see what types of relevant information you should be including. Be sure and tell us if there is a change in the number of animals. Copy and paste charts or select sections as appropriate.
Please do not send us a new protocol form for an amendment.
When you register you will select the type of privileges you would like to have. Most people who register will be asking to be principal investigators. Once you submit the type of privileges you would like, we will be notified and our office will determine if the privileges will be granted. Recently we modified the system in this manner because there are certain qualifications for being a principal investigator at Rutgers (e.g., faculty member, RU employee) and therefore, everyone can not be a principal investigator.
You can not submit your protocol until we have authorized your registration. This is one of the key reasons why we are asking people to register as soon as possible.
We are very responsive in providing the appropriate rights.
Some of our researchers would like to have an assistant submitting protocols for them and having access to the questions asked by the ACFC. If you would like this to occur, you can also have your assistant register.
We do not need to authorize people to be assistants, and so there is no delay. After you are given principal investigator privileges, you can go into the website and add the person as your assistant from a listing. You would be responsible for taking away the privileges from them, if you change your mind or they leave the university.
